I came across this dress while looking for something to wear to a spring wedding. I needed something that would be okay for a warm day but dressy enough for the ceremony, reception and dinner.
The cotton/spandex blend is a bit on the heavy side but gives the dress its shape, and I love the full skirt. It’s also comfortable and fits true to size, though if you are on the bustier side for your dress size the bodice, which is lined and lightly padded, might either “just fit” or be a tad tight (I am a 36″ bust and sometimes size 6 tops are a bit tight on me). I fell in the former category but the dress is still comfortable and I don’t need a bra (and since the back is open I definitely don’t want to wear one with this dress!).
While I love the style of the dress- especially with the pattern, kind of gives it an updated “garden party” feel- the bow in the back was a bit hard to tie properly to lie flat due to its size- so you may need someone to check it. Also, I had the impression that the tie part was connected to the cross-front portion of the dress, but they are just stiched to the sides. That’s not really a problem, though.
The length is great- I am 5’3″ and the hem hits me mid-knee. All in all, a cute dress, especially if you like vintage-type styles. I never thought I’d purchase something by Jessica Simpson, and I was pleasantly surprised. Hope she comes out with more styles like this.
